Cool to be Kind is actively seeking a dedicated individual for the position of :

Volunteer Trustee

We are currently seeking Trustees who preferably possess expertise in marketing, accounting & finance, fundraising, or management. As a Trustee, your role will involve overseeing Cool to be Kind’s affairs to ensure its sustainability and alignment with its objectives. You will be responsible for the organisation’s overall governance, strategic direction, and the development of its aims, objectives, and goals in compliance with company guidelines and legal regulations.

We will consider applications from all backgrounds.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship

  • Leadership skills 
  • Experience of committee work (preferred)
  • Tact and diplomacy 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills 


  • To ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law (when applicable), company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations. 
  • To ensure that the organisation pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document. 
  • To ensure the organisation uses its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objectives: Cool to be Kind must not spend money on activities which are not included in its own objectives, no matter how worthwhile or charitable those activities are. 
  • To contribute actively to the board of trustees’ role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets. 
  • To safeguard the good name and values of the organisation. 
  • To ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.  
  • To ensure the financial stability of the organisation. 
  • To protect and manage the property of the charity and to ensure the proper investment of Cool to be Kind’s funds.

Other requirements

  • Physical attendance once a year at an Annual General Meeting (AGM) is required.
  • Special General Meetings (SGM) are required if important decisions or discussions need to be made and attendance of trustees would be required. These meetings would be planned to find suitable dates for all trustees.
  • Relevant hours per week to develop aims, objectives and strategy.
  • When possible, to represent Cool to be Kind at events.

Out of pocket expenses can be claimed for and will be remunerated on a case-by-case basis.

This position remains open while advertised. Applicants will be shortlisted and contacted for interviews. Interviews will be held in person or remotely (Zoom or similar).
